Olympic National Park is an almost unearthly landscape of old growth forests, rain forests and wind-swept wild shores of seastacks and sand beaches – the domain of northwest Indian culture. Over it all, glacier-clad Mt. Olympus tops the brilliance of wildflower spreads on Hurricane Ridge.

The intense contrasts and combinations of land forms on the Olympic Peninsula provide some gorgeous photography. The ambient wet-light of the rain forest and the coast, and early morning – anywhere in the Park – offer fantastic studies in light. The power of these ancient forests and relentless ocean offers huge variety.

This five day workshop will be based at three different locations throughout the park, with two nights at each spot. Mountain Light has reserved a block of rooms for participants at each place. Please call each one to reserve a room and be sure to tell the desk agent that you are with Mountain Light Photography. If you prefer, we will gladly make your reservations for you.

We will start at the Red Lion Hotel in Port Angeles, WA, (800) 733-5466. Our meeting room is at the hotel, so we suggest staying there or close by.

We will then travel to the Forks Motel in Forks, WA, (360) 374-6243, for two nights.

The last two days of the workshop will be at Kalaloch Lodge in Kalaloch, WA, (360) 962-2271, ext. 0. Only talk to the staff on site at Kalaloch Lodge to let them know you are with Mountain Light.

Participants should possess a working knowledge of their cameras and the basics of exposure. Image processing techniques will be demonstrated in the classroom, and those who wish to follow along are encouraged to bring laptops equipped with digital imaging software such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

With limited enrollment, expect these workshops to fill up quickly. Please contact us promptly to reserve your space. A deposit of 50% is required at time of booking to reserve space, with balance due 60 days prior to workshop start date.

To register, call us at (760) 873-7700.
